The Digital Twin Forum and the 1st Digital Twin International Conference (DigiTwin 2021) were successfully held from November 18 to 19, 2021 during the 19th International Manufacturing Conference (IMCC 2021). The conference was organized by Beihang University at the request of IMCC 2021. In view of the impact of the epidemic, the forum was held online and conducted simultaneously in Zoom and Tencent meeting rooms.
Centered on key and trending developments in the digital twin landscape, the conference (DigiTwin 2021) convened renowned scholars from around the world to showcase their latest research accomplishments and delve into technological frontiers. Its mission was to foster a high-caliber academic exchange platform, thereby fueling the advancement of the digital twin field. Divided into two sessions on November 18th and 19th, the conference featured 13 esteemed presenters from eight nations, each contributing invaluable insights through their academic reports.
The conference officially opened in the afternoon of November 18th, with Professor Tao Fei from Beihang University presiding over the ceremony. During the invited talks session, seven esteemed experts—Professor Ang Liu from the University of New South Wales in Australia, Professor Yan Zhang from the University of Oslo in Norway, Professor Wenjun Xu from Wuhan University of Technology, Professor Tianliang Hu from Shandong University, Professor Dimitris Mourtzis from the University of Patras in Greece, Dr. Jun Qian from Katholieke Universiteit Leuven in Belgium, and Professor Libo Zhou from Ibaraki University in Japan—shared their latest research progresses.
On the afternoon of November 19th, the conference proceedings were gracefully co-chaired by Professor Fei Tao and Associate Professor Ying Cheng from Beihang University. During this engaging segment, 6 renowned experts and scholars took the stage to present their invited presentations. These included Associate Professor Ying Cheng from Beihang University, Professor Aydin Nassehi from the prestigious University of Bristol in the United Kingdom, Professor Nabil Anwer from Université Paris-Saclay in France, Professor Hao Li from Zhengzhou University of Light Industry (represented by the Associate Professor Haoqi Wang), Associate Professor Feng Xiang from Wuhan University of Science and Technology, and Associate Professor Yang Li from Northwestern Polytechnical University. After the captivating presentations, Professor Fei Tao offered a comprehensive summation of the conference’s highlights and achievements.
